Entry Requirements

Unless otherwise stated, the minimum requirements for admission to courses are:

For applicants under 23 years

Successful completion of Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent and successful completion of interview

This is defined as a minimum of five grade D subjects in the Leaving Certificate (which may include LCVP Link Modules) or an overall pass grade in the Leaving Certificate Applied.

Mature Students (23 years or over by course start date)

Mature / Adult Students with no formal qualifications are welcome to apply.  They will have to complete an interview.

For all applicants

Students for whom English is a second language may be required to take and pass an English Language test set by the College.

Students requiring support services as a result of a disability or learning need must inform the college authorities at registration in autumn of their needs in this area in order to allow for provision.   Documentary evidence may be required. 

Garda Vetting is required for the following courses:  Childcare, Community & Health Services, Nursing Studies, Social Studies & Special Needs Assistant.  As this process may take several months to complete, applicants are advised to make their application as soon as possible.  Employers will not take students for work experience until Garda Vetting is complete.

Applicants whose application is based on examination results other than the Irish Leaving Certificate must provide documentation to prove that their qualifications are recognised by the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland. (www.qualificationsrecognition.ie)

County Wexford VEC (and all colleges under its patronage) is registered as a Data Controller under the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003.  The personal data supplied on all application forms is required for the purposes of student enrolment, registration, administration , child welfare and to fulfil our other legal obligations.  Contact details will also be used to notify you of college/VEC events or activities.  While the information provided will generally be treated as confidential to County Wexford VEC, from time to time it may be necessary for us to exchange personal data on a confidential basis with other bodies including the Department of Education and Skills, the Department of Social Protection, An Garda Síochána, the Health Service Executive, the National Educational Welfare Board or with another school (where a student is transferring).  We rely on course participants to provide us with accurate and complete information and to update us in relation to any change in the information provided.  Should you wish to update or access your own or your personal data you should write to the College Principal.

Note to applicants

Wexford Vocational College reserves the right to refuse places on these courses (or to refuse to permit admitted students to continue with the course) for whatever reasons it may, in its absolute discretion, deem appropriate.  Please note that all applicants for places on certain courses shall be required to agree to Garda vetting and places will be refused where the outcome of that process is not satisfactory to the college.  In such circumstances, Wexford Vocational College shall accept no liability whatsoever.
