· Mature students (over 23) - No requirements
· Students (18-23) - Leaving Certificate or equivalent
· All entries will be subject to interview.
Course Description
One-year full-time course providing students with an introduction to the theories and practices of nursing, a working knowledge of hospitals and the key elements of caring.
Certification
FETAC National Vocational Certificate Level 5 (DCHSN)
Work Experience
Work Experience is an integral part of this course. Students must obtain 80 hours work experience in a related area. The period of work experience will be specified by the college. This work placement provides students with first-hand experience of work in the care/health area.

Career Options
Students obtaining certification in Nursing Studies may progress to nurse training at selected third level colleges under the Higher Education Links Scheme.
